New Beginning - hard edge geometric oil painting by Victoria Kloch I'm super excited about my newest series of minimal geometrics. This piece is only the beginning. When I create my compositions, there is a lot of things to consider. The balance of color and shape placement is intentional. Every shape with it's color has to work together in harmony from the tip top corners that must work with the bottom corners and throughout using everything in between. My love for these pieces is driven by the challenge each piece presents itself. Now here's the test that they do work as great design. As I studied my complicated works I found vignettes that can stand on their own. I am over top, brimming with joy to get started on these colorful minimal hard edge abstracts. This one is my first. ABOVE 'New Beginning' - BELOW ' Scotty's Tree House' Who Doesn't Love Unicorns 36"x36" color field painting by Victoria Kloch This is my black painting. I wonder how many painters have thought about painting with black as the predominant color. Some I know of, but not many. I'm going to document this as my pandemic piece. I guess you might say that I had a lot of things going through my mind that day. To start with, I had a finished painting that I had been wanting to paint over for a while. It was a spatter painting with a lot of spatter textures so I was limited on what I could place over it. I hadn't painted a color field for a while so I thought this would be perfect. It turn out much better then I expected and at night the white on this piece glows. To sum it up. My dark day turned out much brighter then I though possible. Keep smart, keep safe and time to set us free. I Can See - Opals 60"x40" acrylic on an oversized stretched canvas, ready to hang.
I can get lost in this painting as my eyes travel through it. Pure modern expressionism where soft colors were allowed to find their own way. I'm in love. Kabuki - geometric oil abstract by Victoria Kloch
I don't actually know why, maybe it's the movement, the colors, the intentional design with hard edge shapes. I'm in love! I haven't felt so satisfied with one of my pieces. This one is small and I will defiantly go big with this one. I feel so totally inspired with endless possibilities using this composition. Can you tell how excited I am!?1 Sheltered, 30"x40" geometric hard edge oil painting by Victoria Kloch
Here in Alameda county, California we just got word that we will be on lockdown presumably till the end of May. Being sheltered means little to me as I spend most of my time willingly self absorbed in my work at home. This is my nature, but still I'm finding it hard to focus.. I'm hearing from others who are painters, that I am not a lone in feeling this way. Hang in there everyone, you are not a lone. Now and Zen
This commission was re-created from a small painting I made back in 2014. The one you see here is 48"x60" and will be on it's way to New York today. Did I say how much I love commission work? Well I do! Palette used blues, wheat yellow, grays, deep green and aqua. Sisters Wearing Aprons - 36"x36" oil abstract painting by Victoria Kloch
My painting was inspired by the wonderful time spent with 2 of my sisters.. We got together to make Cornish Pasties in honor of our Grandmother Hilda. I admit you would have to have a phenomenal imagination to actually see any sisters in this painting, though you will find apron strings.. Who knew apron strings could be so much fun! This work is all about emotions of love, excitement and pure joy, as I document the time shared with these extraordinary ladies. What a wonderful time we had as we talked about family history and created new memories. It was a celebration of us being together and our love for each other. oxoxoxo Gold Outside In - 48"x36" - Geometric hard edge abstract by Victoria Kloch - Commission - January of 2020
Bold and beautiful, Edge Of Silence - Red, 36"x36" with metallic gold and silver chunky shapes. Commission work, by Victoria Kloch
Lucy Rides in a Submarine - 8"x10" abstract by Victoria Kloch - Sold
A fun name for a fun painting. Meet Lucy Bean. When she's not being a couch potato she's ready for new adventures. Don't be fooled by her sweet face and small stature, this little girl has a mighty spirit. Last May when Kurt, Lucy and I went to Sunol for a hike in the wilderness, right off the bat, she found a huge fresh cow patty and wallowed in it with delight. After cleaning her up in a creek, I rolled my ankle and broke it in two places. Evening was approaching so Kurt ran back down hill to get help. Lucy stayed by my side on Mountain Lion watch to keep me safe until Kurt returned an hour later with help from Sunol's first responders. Lucy and I both agree, Kurt is our hero! House Of Glass - 36"x36" - geometric by Victoria Kloch - Sold
What a great day. The sun is shining with Autumn in the air and my favorite painting 'House of Glass' just sold to one of my most wonderful clients.. I love these busy days. I'm off the get back to working on my huge 60'x60" and a 24"x24" commission. Have a great day and thank you for stopping by. From time to time I receive messages from criminals who masquerade as buyers. I've received so many of these in the past I no longer response. Instead, I will be posting them for the world to see in hopes that no one falls for this lie. Evidently, people do as this has been going on for years. Shame on these scammers, artists are hardworking freelance individuals that do not relay on weekly paychecks so making a living at times can be tough. SO world meet today's thief AKA Daniel Lester. Soft, lively and big all at the same time. I decided to paint over the painting below called Face in the Crowd using sections of the original painting exposed. Now I'm really happy I did. If you know me I'm really not one to use a lot of pink, but this Salmon pink is breathtaking and will become the show piece in the room. Please ask for availability. A Face In The Crowd 48"x48" oil abstract expressionism by Victoria Kloch
I am one of those of people that can't help seeing faces in abstract paintings. This piece will keep you busy for a very long time. Pan down to the next image and what do you see? It's fun to look back on what I was painting 10 years ago. This was a small watercolor that sold early on. I wish I had a scanner back then. It would have made a really great print in large format.

This was the first of my series of colorful oil abstracts. The plan is to re-create these small studies into larger pieces. I'm very excited to see this one large. Blue Field 30"x40" acrylic on canvas by Victoria Kloch - Sold
Contemporary color field painting in gray and blues. Blue makes everything right in the world. Commission work available. Yellow Tree - Geometric oil abstract by Victoria Kloch
My current geometric abstracts are called free hand, hard-edge painting inspired by mid century artist Maurice Esteve.. I'm crazy about how these organic geometric shapes come alive with bright color. They are fun and charged with saturated color! I'm so happy I stepped out of the safe box of neutral paintings to bight and bold. To see more [click here] Waiting For Indigo, geometric oil abstract painting by Victoria Kloch
Up The Down Stairs, hard-edge geometric abstract oil painting by Victoria Kloch I think the balance of this piece really worked out well. After sketching this out, before the oil paint, I was afraid that it would be way to busy. I wish I would have taken a photo of it for you. I knew it was crucial to keep my palette simple with strong contrast. It worked out far better then I could have even imagined. Colors are Indigo, coral, light blue, creme and caffe mocha. This one will be going large! Hole In One - Geometric abstract oil painting by Victoria Kloch Titles of paintings have somehow became important to each piece. And sometimes they name themselves. This one did exactly that. I looked at the finished piece and immediately, Hole In One came to mind. This series has strong mid century attributes in rich, saturated oil colors. You can find the other paintings in the main menu under NEW COLLECTION of this site. For me, this pretty much sums 'it' up. What is 'it' to you?
Johnny's in the basement Mixing up the medicine I'm on the pavement Thinkin' about the government The man in the trench coat Badge out, laid off Says he's got a bad cough Wants to get it paid off Look out kid It's somethin' you did God knows when But you're doin' it again You better duck down the alley way Lookin' for a new friend The man in the coon-skin cap In the pig pen Wants eleven dollar bills You only got ten Maggie comes fleet foot Face full of black soot Talkin' that the heat put Plants in the bed but The phone's tapped anyway Maggie says that many say They must bust in early May Orders from the D.A. Look out kid Don't matter what you did Walk on your tip toes Don't tie no bows Better stay away from those That carry 'round a fire hose Keep a clean nose Watch the plain clothes You don't need a weather man To know which way the wind blows Ah, get sick, get well Look out kid You're gonna get hit By losers, cheaters Six-time users Hangin' 'round the theaters Girl by the whirlpools Lookin' for a new fool Don't follow leaders Watch the parkin' meters Ah, get born, keep warm Short pants, romance, learn to dance Get dressed, get blessed Try to be a success Please her, please him, buy gifts Don't steal, don't lift Twenty years of schoolin' And they put you on the day shift Look out kid They keep it all hid Better jump down a manhole Light yourself a candle Don't wear sandals Try to avoid the scandals Don't wanna be a bum You better chew gum The pump don't work 'Cause the vandals took the handles The Edge of Silence by Victoria Kloch I love the poetic genius of Bob Dylan. The words to the song The Times They Are A-changin' are personal to whoever hears it. For me it as definitely grown and evolved. When I was young, it was an anti-war song in regards to Vietnam that reflected the times.. Now . . . it could be about the growing pains of a civil war that is currently brewing within our country.
The Times They Are A-changin' Bob Dylan - The Essential Bob Dylan Come gather 'round people Wherever you roam And admit that the waters Around you have grown And accept it that soon You'll be drenched to the bone If your time to you Is worth savin' Then you better start swimmin' Or you'll sink like a stone For the times they are a-changin'. Come writers and critics, who prophesize with your pen And keep your eyes wide, the chance won't come again And don't speak too soon, for the wheel's still in spin And there's no tellin' who that it's namin' For the loser now will be later to win For the times they are a-changin' Come senators, congressmen, please heed the call Don't stand in the doorway, don't block up the hall For he that gets hurt will be he who has stalled The battle outside ragin' Will soon shake your windows and rattle your walls For the times they are a-changin' Come mothers and fathers throughout the land And don't criticize what you can't understand Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command1 Your old road is rapidly aging Painted Neighborhood geometric abstract oil painting by Victoria Kloch
This small painting is the first of six in my new series that I began in 2019, so it is brand new. You will find the rest in the menu under paintings > new collection - Kloch. While each of these little pieces are available, I'm finding them to be useful studies for larger pieces of work. |
